Ford’s return to the top class of Le Mans racing is getting closer. After months of development work and track testing, the American automaker has finally confirmed when we’ll get our first proper look at its new Le Mans Hypercar.

Ford Racing posted a short video on social media announcing November 26 as the reveal date. The footage starts with some of Ford’s historic Le Mans winners before cutting to the new Ford Le Mans Hypercar prototype at Silverstone.

There’s a nice touch to the video. The new car overtakes its predecessors on track before moving to the front of the group, followed by the words, “The New Era Begins.” Ford clearly wants this car to represent a fresh chapter for its racing programme.

We don’t have the full technical picture yet, but some details have already emerged. The Ford Le Mans Hypercar is expected to use a heavily reworked 5.4-litre V8 based on Ford’s Coyote engine architecture. Reports suggest the race-bred unit will rev to around 9,000 rpm.

More importantly, the November 26 reveal should finally tell us what Ford has been hiding under the camouflage.
