The Ford Mustang Ute is the latest addition to the Ford Heritage Fleet. It is a Mustang that is unlike any other, and surprisingly, Ford has been able to keep it hidden for years.
Matt Korczyk, Ford’s U.S. Heritage Fleet manager, shared photos of the one-off creation after it spent years hidden inside the automaker’s Experimental Vehicles Building. Until now, the public had never seen it.

The Mustang began life as an S550 fastback finished in Cyber Yellow before Ford’s EVB Metal Shop transformed it into a ute. The team built a pickup-style bed at the rear, creating a very different take on the familiar Mustang shape.
The project was primarily designed to train Ford apprentices, giving them hands-on experience working on a real concept vehicle. Hundreds of hours went into the build, making it a useful showcase of the craftsmanship involved.
It was never meant for production, but it is hard not to wonder what a factory-built Mustang ute could have been like.
