Tesla is making a strong comeback in Australia, and the stretched Model Y L appears to be playing a significant role in the turnaround.
The brand delivered 5,654 vehicles in September 2026, up 21.3% compared with the same month last year, according to Electric Vehicle Council data. More importantly, Tesla’s year-to-date deliveries have climbed 84.1% to 41,705 units.

The Model Y accounted for 4,476 deliveries in September, including 1,764 examples of the new three-row Model Y L. Combined Model Y sales were up 14% year on year, while its 2026 total has more than doubled, rising 108.4%.
The Model 3 also gained ground, with 1,178 deliveries marking a 60.1% annual increase. Tesla recently strengthened its position further by introducing a new entry-level RWD variant with a $9,000 lower starting price.

With 3 months still left in the year, Tesla has already surpassed its entire 2025 sales total.
