The 1 millionth BMW M car has rolled off the production line at the BMW Group plant in Munich, Germany. The milestone vehicle was a Fire Orange M3 Competition.

“BMW M combines road and racetrack capabilities with everyday practicality. The one-millionth BMW M vehicle shows that these values are still very much appreciated by our customers, 40 years after the market launch of the first BMW M3,” Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M, said.

BMW’s M performance vehicle division was founded in 1972. The first M3 was built at the Munich plant more than 40 years ago. The factory is currently undergoing its biggest transformation yet. The company has invested around 650 million euros to build fully electric vehicles at the site.

From 2027, BMW’s Munich plant will manufacture the first-ever all-electric M3. To facilitate this, the carmaker is setting up new production buildings, including a new body shop, assembly areas, and logistics facilities.
