Porsche is giving owners of older sports cars an easy way to bring their cabins into the modern era. The latest Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus, or PCCM Plus, adds modern infotainment features while retaining the factory-style look of the original interior.
The new system is available for more than 300,000 future classics from the 911, Cayman and Boxster ranges built between 2009 and 2016. Two model-specific units cover the 997.2, 987.2, 981 and 991.1 generations.
A seven-inch high-resolution touchscreen handles the main functions, while cars equipped with a multifunction steering wheel can also use it for control. Navigation directions and music information can appear in the instrument cluster, too.
The big upgrade is connectivity. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work wirelessly through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, while YouTube playback is available when the car is stationary where regulations permit.
Owners can even select their Porsche’s exterior colour for the virtual car displayed on screen.
Porsche recommends having the system installed through an authorised Porsche Centre.
