Ford Australia has issued a recall for 1,218 Mustang Mach-E electric SUVs over an issue that could cause part of the rear quarter-window glass assembly to detach while driving.
According to the recall notice, a manufacturing defect could cause the rear quarter glass trim moulding to separate from the vehicle. If it comes loose on the road, it could create a hazard for other motorists, pedestrians and bystanders.
The issue doesn’t affect the Mach-E’s electric powertrain, but the potential for a component to detach while the vehicle is moving has prompted Ford to take action.
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted directly in writing. They will then be asked to contact an authorised Ford dealer to arrange an inspection and any required repair.
The work will be carried out free of charge.
