A rare Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse has just set a new world record for the model at auction.
The 2014 ‘Jean-Pierre Wimille’ edition sold for CHF 4,505,000 ($5.44 million) at RM Sotheby’s Zurich Auction on September 26, 2026. It is one of only three examples produced and was the first instalment in Bugatti’s exclusive Legends series.
The special edition celebrates Jean-Pierre Wimille, Bugatti’s first 24 Hours of Le Mans winner. Its striking two-tone finish takes inspiration from the Type 57G Tank he raced, combining specially commissioned Bleu Wimille paint with exposed dark blue carbon fibre.
There are plenty of unique details, too. References to Wimille include his portrait and signature, the Le Mans circuit layout and French flag motifs, while Bugatti’s famous elephant emblem also appears throughout the car.
