Ford is recalling more than 148,000 Mustang models in the US after discovering a wiring problem that could potentially affect several important vehicle functions.
The recall covers certain 2024-2026 Mustang cars. According to Ford’s filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, ground connections in the engine-compartment wiring harness can break.
If that happens, the Mustang could lose drive power. It may also affect the windshield washer system, headlights, air conditioning or engine cooling fan. A loss of drive power could increase the risk of a crash, while problems with the headlights or windshield washer system could reduce visibility. Ford says it is not aware of any crashes or injuries linked to the issue.
Dealers will replace the affected wiring harness ground terminals free of charge. Owners are expected to receive notification letters beginning in early September, with additional communication to follow once the repair is available. Ford currently expects the remedy to be ready in March 2027.
This isn’t the only recent Ford Mustang recall. Thousands of models of the current-generation (2024 – 2026) have been recalled in Australia as well.
