Top Gear is making a comeback. The BBC has officially confirmed that the long-running motoring show will return to television, four years after it was taken off air following a serious accident during filming.
The programme was “rested” in 2022 after presenter Andrew Flintoff suffered serious facial and rib injuries when an open-top three-wheeled car overturned at the show’s test track. Flintoff was hosting the series alongside Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris at the time.

The BBC has yet to reveal who will lead the revived show. However, comedian Jimmy Carr has reportedly been linked with the presenting role, while former rugby player Joe Marler is also said to be in contention.
BBC director of entertainment Ed Havard confirmed the comeback at the Edinburgh TV Festival, but stopped short of discussing the potential presenters.
