Ford is still considering an off-road Mustang; Could be called the Baja

1 Min Read

An off-road Mustang is reportedly still under consideration, and it is expected to be called the Baja. Back in 2024, Ford had shown dealers an off-road Mustang. And now, the latest reports suggest that the idea could have moved ahead beyond a simple design exercise.

The concept would give the Mustang a very different character from its traditional muscle-car roots. Rather than focusing purely on tarmac performance, a Baja-inspired version could bring increased ground clearance, tougher suspension components, rugged tyres, and other changes aimed at handling rougher terrain.

Ford has already shown that it is willing to experiment with the Mustang formula with new variants, so an off-road version would not be entirely out of character. The company has also previously discussed other unconventional Mustang ideas with dealers.

For now, however, there is no confirmation that the Mustang Baja will reach production. The latest report simply indicates that the project remains in play.
