1 Min Read

Mercedes-Maybach is broadening the appeal of its flagship S-Class in Australia, with the facelifted range gaining a new S580 V8 as a more affordable entry point.

Arriving during the first quarter of 2027, the Maybach S580 will start at $517,900 before on-road costs. That makes it substantially cheaper than the range-topping S680, which now costs $582,428.

Power comes from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 395 kW (530 hp) and 750 Nm (553 lb ft), supplemented by a 48V mild-hybrid system. Despite having fewer cylinders than the S680, the S580 matches its bigger sibling with a claimed 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) time of 4.5 seconds.

The S680 continues with its glorious 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, developing 463 kW (620 hp) and 900 Nm (663 lb ft). It also receives the facelift’s styling and technology upgrades.
