Tesla is reportedly preparing to reveal a redesigned version of its long-delayed Roadster, featuring an extreme rocket-thruster system developed with SpaceX.
According to a report, the event is expected to take place at SpaceX’s McGregor, Texas facility. First revealed as a concept in 2017 with a 2020 target launch, the electric supercar project has suffered nearly nine years of delays, with recent demo targets sliding repeatedly into mid-2026.
Tesla is expected to showcase an optional “SpaceX Package.” Using roughly 10 high-pressure cold-gas rocket thrusters mounted around the chassis, the system is designed to drastically boost acceleration, cornering, and braking. Rumours even suggest the thrusters could allow the vehicle to briefly hover off the ground.
Alongside the SpaceX prototype, Tesla is expected to offer a standard, street-legal electric Roadster. While final specs remain unconfirmed, Tesla’s website still promises a sub-two-second 0–60 mph time, a top speed over 250 mph, and 620 miles of range for the base car.
