Mercedes has announced a recall in Australia. This has affected more than 58,000 cars across various product ranges, including multiple AMG models. Vehicles made between 2018 and 2026 have been recalled due to a manufacturing flaw that increases the risk of vehicle rollaway.
The recall notice says, “Due to a manufacturing defect, the door-lock microswitch may be susceptible to water damage and could fail. If this occurs, the door may not be detected as open, preventing the auto park feature from operating as intended.”
“A loss of the auto park feature may result in unintended vehicle movement. This increases the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users. The driver should always engage the Park position on the gear selector and apply the parking brake, as described in the Owner’s Manual, prior to leaving the vehicle.”
This recall by Mercedes in Australia impacts a wide selection of standard and high-performance AMG variants, including A-Class, B-Class, C-Class, CLA, and CLE, and GLA, GLB, GLC, and the all-electric EQA.
