The first Ferrari Luce has arrived in China. As per a social media post, the Italian brand’s first EV arrived at a dealer in Guangzhou. It is being reported that it isn’t a customer car but the same Rosso Fiammante demo car first shown at the EV’s global debut.
As expected, reactions are mixed. The design divides opinion, and while the performance figures are strong, they don’t quite dominate the way you’d expect from a Ferrari in today’s EV landscape.
But on paper, the Luce delivers. It packs a four-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 1,050 hp. Ferrari claims 0-100 kmph (0–62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 310 kmph (192 mph). A 122 kWh battery provides up to 530 km (330 miles) of range (CLTC), with fast charging capped at 350 kW.
Pricing in China sits at around 3.988 million yuan (roughly $586,000), which is actually lower than its European price. Still, that figure puts it well above local rivals that offer similar or better performance for far less money.
And yet, it hasn’t hurt demand. All 88 units allocated for China reportedly sold out almost instantly. Because at this level, buyers aren’t chasing numbers. They want a piece of history.
