Update: It’s the Ford Le Mans Hypercar that will enter the FIA World Endurance Championship next year and will race at the 2027 24 Hours of Le Mans.
As America celebrates its 250th Independence Day, Ford Racing has shared a teaser of its upcoming race car project. While details are unknown, it could be a Ford GT-based endurance race car designed to run in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship and WEC.
“Happy 250th America. We’ve got something special planned for you, this year courtesy of #AmericasRaceTeam. #Americas250“, the team posted on social media.
The car, although still under a cover, appears to be equipped with a large rear spoiler with massive endplates and perhaps a central fin. It has a low scuttle nestled between the front wheel arches and a roof scoop feeding the mid-mounted engine, which sounds like a 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V8.
The Ford Le Mans hypercar is expected to be revealed next week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
