Ferrari is set to unveil a special edition of the 12Cilindri later today. Rumoured to be called the 12Cilindri MM, it will feature a trick H-pattern manual gearbox based on the same 8-speed automatic as the standard version.

According to our sources, production of the 12Cilindri MM could be capped at 1,499 units. It will also be considerably more expensive than the standard model, with an estimated price tag of approximately $675,000.

Ferrari manual shifter automatic patent-1

Leaked patent documents have revealed a manual H-pattern shifter developed by Ferrari. It uses shift-by-wire technology to operate the 8-speed automatic transmission. It’s a similar concept to Koenigsegg’s shift-by-wire Engage Shift System (ESS).

The V12 engine is likely to remain unchanged. The 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine produces 819 hp @ 9250 rpm and 500 lb-ft @ 7250 rpm and comes paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
