The Xiaomi YU7 GT has become the fastest SUV to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The electric SUV from China beat the Audi RS Q8 to claim the SUV lap record.
The Xiaomi YU7 GT completed a lap of the ‘Ring in 7 min 34.93 seconds, 1.76 seconds quicker than the RS Q8’s time of 7 min 36.69 seconds.
The YU7 GT is a high-performance EV powered by dual electric motors. It has 990 hp and is said to be capable of reaching a top speed of 186 mph. It has a 101.7 kWh battery pack that gives it a maximum range of 438 miles (CLTC cycle).
The car used for setting the lap record had been slightly modified, though. It was fitted with a full roll cage for added safety, and the rear seats were removed to reduce weight.
