It has been three years since Bugatti revealed the Chiron Profilée – a hypercar that never had the chance to enter production. A month later, the sole pre-production version that was built sold at auction for $9.5 million.

The elusive Chiron Profilée has finally been spotted in the wild after all these years. The car was at Villa d’Este this weekend and was spotted driving around the picturesque Lake Como in Italy.

Technically, the Chiron Profilée marks the end of production of the Chiron. However, Bugatti has built a few one-offs based on the Chiron under its Solitaire programme since then.

The Profilée features a dual-tone colour scheme and has a different tail section with an integrated ducktail spoiler and a unique set of wheels. It also gets retuned steering and suspension as well as a revised gearbox.

Powering this special one-off is the familiar 8.0-litre W16 engine. The engine revs to 6900 rpm, 200 rpm higher than the standard version, allowing the car to reach a top speed of 236 mph.
