China’s luxury marque Hongqi is preparing to enter the Russian market. The company is planning to introduce its flagship sedan, the Guoya, with two engine options – V6 and V8.
As per reports, Hongqi has developed these engines entirely in-house. Built around a twin-turbo architecture, they are designed to offer sharper throttle response, reduced lag, high torque and a smooth ride.

The entry point is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, producing a healthy 380 hp and 570 Nm (420 lb ft) of torque. Quick enough to push this full-size luxury sedan from 0–100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.5 seconds.
Then there’s the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. With 476 hp and 680 Nm (501 lb ft) on tap, the range-topping Guoya cuts the sprint down to just 4.5 seconds. It’s not just about straight-line pace either; the promise of refined power delivery and reduced turbo lag hints at a more engaging drive than you’d expect.

For context, Hongqi – meaning “Red Flag” – has been building cars for China’s top leadership since 1958. Now, it’s aiming to expand its global footprint. Sales of the Guoya sedan in Russia are expected to begin this year.
