Chris Harris recently had a go in the GMA T.50S Niki Lauda. The one thing he noticed straight away is that the most extreme version of the T.50 is unlike its rival. Now, he doesn’t mention it in the video, but you know he’s comparing it with the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro.

Chris drove the GMA T.50S at a track he is familiar with, the old Top Gear test track at Dunsfold. He knows his way around this strip of tarmac in Surrey, England. So, it didn’t take long before he was giving it the full beans and attacking the corners till the tires gave up.

During his short stint at the helm of the T.50S, Chris realized how different it was compared to the Valkyrie AMR Pro he drove 3 years ago. Both cars are built specifically for racetracks. While one is raw and loud, the other is more approachable and forgiving.

Chris reports that the power delivery from the Cosworth-sourced 3.9-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine is linear, and there is sufficient insulation to dampen the vibrations. The engine delivers 711 hp and 358 lb-ft of torque, which drives the rear axle via a 6-speed paddle shift gearbox. The T.50S weighs less than 900 kg, and you can feel it. It has a power-to-weight ratio of 835 hp/tonne.
