All-new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series with active aero spied at Nurburgring
Mercedes claims that the upcoming AMG GT Black Series will be the most extreme Black Series it has ever produced. The car does look absolutely wild in the official images of the prototype that were released recently. What the images don’t show us are the active aero bits that are on the car.
The new AMG GT Black Series is said to have been developed alongside the GT3-spec race car. The cars look almost identical, but while the race car is bound by strict GT3 regulations, the Black Series isn’t.
In the front, the Black Series gets a pair of dive planes on either side of the bumper with a large splitter underneath. The front grille is also slightly different compared to the GT3. It has side-exit exhausts and a massive diffuser in the rear.
The top-mounted rear spoiler might look similar to the GT3 machine. However, it’s a dual-element active unit where the actuators are housed inside the swan neck. Another aero feature that went unnoticed until recently is the active flaps on the front fenders. These are similar to those found on the AMG One hypercar.

Mercedes has confirmed that the model will be powered by the same V8 engine which also powers the brand’s GT Series racecars. It is likely to be a 4.0-liter unit with two turbochargers.
