Porsche’s K1 flagship SUV will not be electric
Porsche is working on a new flagship luxury SUV to rival the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Codenamed K1, the new model was initially expected to be electric-only. However, according to the latest reports, that won’t be the case.
The Porsche K1 SUV will be based on the VW Group’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. It is expected to be offered with V6 and V8 powertrains instead of being a purely electric SUV.

The Porsche K1 was initially planned to use VW’s Scalable Systems Platform – an EV architecture whose development is said to have been delayed. Another reason behind the switch to the PPC platform is the lack of interest in EVs.
The K1 will be preceded by the Audi Q9. It will share the same architecture and offer petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.
