Manthey Racing is working on a new project based on the 911 GT2 RS. The car was recently spied testing at the Nurburgring for the first time.

The spy images and videos shared on social media suggest that it could be a special edition of the 911 GT2 RS MR. Some say it might even be an homage to the 930 Slantnose.

Now, if you look at the front end, it does have a flat-ish profile. The round headlamps have also been replaced with slim, rectangular units. Other details include a pronounced front splitter with dual dive planes and fender louvres.

The rear section looks untouched, though, except for the massive wing, which reminds us of the track-only 911 GT3 R Rennsport.

Assuming that the car is based on the GT2 RS MR, it is likely to be powered by a 3.8-liter flat 6-cylinder engine that delivers 700 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.

Wouldn’t it be great if Porsche started making a 930 version again. The possibilities that Porsche could come up with would sell out before they produced them.
