The Porsche 963 RSP has been officially revealed. It’s essentially a one-off street-legal Le Mans racecar built in partnership with motorsport legend Roger Penske, who is also the owner of this wild machine.
The Porsche 963 RSP is the first of its kind to be painted. Its carbon fibre and Kevlar bodywork is finished in Martini Silver, which is complemented by a bespoke tan leather and Alcantara interior. It has a single-piece carbon seat with soft cushioning, a fixed headrest and leg cushions in the footwell. It even comes with a detachable cup holder that was 3D-printed for this car.
Of course, certain modifications had to be made to make it road-legal. Starting with the exterior, the 963 RSP has unique fender vents and mounting points for the front and rear license plates. The Multimatic DSSV dampers are in their softest setting, while the ride height has been raised.
Powering the 963 RSP is a 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 that makes around 680 hp. Porsche had to remap the MGU to provide smooth power delivery. The powertrain was also remapped to run on pump gas. That being said, the car can also run purely on electric power.
The car will make its public debut at the Circuit de la Sarthe during the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It will also be showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
