Ferrari F80: The next-gen hypercar & LaFerrari successor is here!

Ferrari has taken the wraps off its next-generation hypercar, the F80. The new flagship replaces the LaFerrari in the brand’s lineup.

The Ferrari F80 is said to mark the beginning of a new technological era for the brand. Unlike its predecessors, the Enzo and LaFerrari, the new F80 drops the screaming V12 for a more sensible twin-turbo V6. Yet, it’s the most powerful road-going Ferrari ever.

The F80 features a mid-mounted 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 900 hp. The internal combustion engine is paired with an electric front axle and an F1-derived MGU-K, which adds another 300 hp, taking the total output to 1200 hp. Ferrari claims a 0-62 mph time of 2.15 seconds. 0-124 mph comes up in 5.75 seconds, and it can reach a top speed of 217 mph.

In terms of its design, the F80 looks like an evolution of the F40. The driver cell is made from carbon fibre and other composites, with aluminium subframes on both ends. The car has a flat nose section with an active S-duct and butterfly doors. At the rear, it has a large active wing that can be raised or lowered depending on the downforce requirement. The rear fascia comprises slim LED taillights with an aero channel in the centre, a large diffuser, and a centrally mounted exhaust.

Step inside, and you will feel like you’re a race car. There’s carbon fibre and Alcantara all around with a new steering wheel and digital instrument cluster. The centre console is angled towards the driver and houses the H-pattern drive mode selector. As you can see, the F80 is built around the driver in a 1+ configuration.
