The Mercedes-AMG One currently holds the lap record for production cars at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. In 2022, the hypercar went around the Green Hell in 6 min 35.183 seconds. Now, two years later, Mercedes was back to break its own record.

This time, DTM driver Maro Engel managed to set a lap time of 6 min 29.09 seconds, improving on his previous best by over 6 seconds.

According to Mercedes-Benz, the track conditions were less than optimal in 2022. Some sections of the track were still damp, so Maro couldn’t extract the full potential of the car.

This time, the team was at the track on September 23 and the record was set at 6:56 pm, when the track was dry. The air temperature was 15°C and the track temperature was 20°C.

The Mercedes-AMG One is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine from a Formula 1 car. The IC engine is paired with two electric motors for a combined output of 1063 hp. Mercedes claims the AMG One will do 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds and 0-124 mph in 7 seconds. The top speed is rated 219 mph.
