Bugatti Planning sub-1 Million Dollar 4-Seat EV

There have been rumors about a more affordable Bugatti supercar for quite some time now. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Stephan Winkelmann, CEO, Bugatti, reiterated that the second model would be an all-electric, 4-seat grand tourer or crossover.

According to Winkelmann, the brand’s second model could be priced between €500,000-1,000,000, which would make it a bargain compared to the Chiron which starts at $2.7 million.

However, for this model to come to reality, Bugatti needs money. It would require significant investments from the Volkswagen Group and securing the funds for such a niche project wouldn’t be easy, Winkelmann explains.

At present, Bugatti builds just 100 cars a year. Adding a cheaper model to the line up is expected to increase the annual output to 600 units.

Earlier this year, Winkelmann had told Autonews Europe about his thoughts on an electric Bugatti.

“I would see us doing a battery electric vehicle,” Winkelmann said. “There, the balance between performance and comfort is much more important, and it’s about daily usability. This is what I see. Top speed will be far less important with such a model,” he added.
