Production-Spec Porsche Mission-E Electric Sedan named Taycan

Porsche has announced that its first electric car will be dubbed the ‘Taycan’. The car maker has also revealed a new teaser video of its upcoming EV.

The name Taycan doesn’t sound much different from Cayman or Cayenne. It apparently means a “lively, young horse,” according to Porsche Boss Oliver Blume. It is a reference to the horse on the coat of arms of the city of Stuttgart, which also appears on the Porsche emblem.

The 30 second teaser clip provides a glimpse of the aesthetics of the new electric car which looks athletic and futuristic from every angle. The headlights are a combination a four point LEDs and the tail light runs the entire length of the rear. It also seems that the Porsche Taycan will feature pronounced wheel arches over the hood.

Porsche is putting the finishing touches on the production version and we expect the Taycan to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October. It might go on sale sometime next year.
