Nissan India Retweets Mercedes-AMG GT R Lap Record in major goof up

Mercedes-AMG decided to call their hot version of the AMG GT – GT R, despite the fact that the name could cause some confusion. It seems, even Nissan is having trouble distinguishing it from their own GT-R.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R recently set a new lap record (2 min 9.853 sec). This time around the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in India and Mercedes rightly bragged about it on Twitter. Nissan India in what can only be described as a major goof up retweeted saying, “Another legendary record by Nissan GT-R #OMGTR”.

This screenshot was sent in by a reader and while we can’t confirm its authenticity, we sincerely hope this isn’t true. That said, if someone in Nissan India’s marketing department did screw up, then it’s certainly a major embarrassment for the brand.

Update: We have just learned that the tweet which was sent out by the editor of Evo India magazine was in fact retweeted by Nissan India.
